A recurve bow is a popular tool for archery and hunting. This type of bow has a unique design with limbs that curve out from the archer. When the bow is strung, the limbs deliver more force because of the curved shape of the limbs. This type of bow is often used in competitive shooting instead of a straight bow because the curved limbs allow for a smaller and lighter weight bow. Today’s recurve bows are made of composite materials and the risers are often made of wood. This is currently the only bow allowed in official Olympic archery events.
